WALK
A guided
tour of some of the historic buildings we drive by every
day accompanied by a hot breakfast - what more could you ask for on a beautiful April
morning? April 6th, to be exact.
Here's
the official scoop:
The Oviedo
Preservation Project (TOPP) will be hosting a Historic Oviedo
Walking Tour and Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 6. Breakfast
will be served from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist
Church of Oviedo (263 King Street in Oviedo) and tours will
depart every half-hour from in front of the church's sanctuary
beginning at 8:30 a.m., with the last tour departing at 11:00
a.m. People of all ages are welcome to join this guided tour
to learn about a few of the buildings in downtown Oviedo and
how the people who lived there helped make our town what it
is today. Kids are welcome at all times, but the tours at
9:00 and 10:30 a.m. will be particularly geared toward a younger
audience.
If you'd
like to attend, please contact TOPP at 407-365-1433 or walk@OviedoTraditions.org
to let us know how many people will be eating breakfast, attending
the walk, or both. The cost
for both breakfast and the tour is "whatever
you can afford." Please be generous if you
are able, but don't let price keep you from being a part of
this community event. We will have donation bins scattered
around the event for those who are able to contribute.
The breakfast
will be hosted by First United Methodist Church of Oviedo
with assistance from the Oviedo Woman's Club (who will be
making pancake mix from scratch), the Oviedo Optimist Club, and
TOPP. 100% of the profits from the breakfast will go to
help those in our community who are in need, 100% of the proceeds
from the tour will go to help students in Oviedo learn more
about local history.
